PICKERING DURHAM REGION NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER | WELCOME BEN

Have I ever told you how much I love repeat clients? (probably 2345 times right?) Reason # 432 – I love being able to see if the newborns looked like their older sibling. Call me crazy, but it’s so interesting to me. DNA and genetics are so fascinating to me. I catch myself upon seeing a new baby trying to place if they look like mom or dad, or seeing the uniqueness of them if they were adopted. I actually have a family who has been coming to me for years, and I think their adopted son looks so much like them. It’s like when people have been married for so long and they start to look like each other. Or when humans and pets start to resemble each other. It’s doesn’t necessarily have to be DNA.

Anyway, let’s get back on topic here.

The Sealy family have been coming to me since their eldest Cameron was a newborn. I was so excited when Natasha told me she was expecting and I’d be seeing them in the spring when baby # 2 arrived. I adore this family, and over the years they’ve become more like friends than clients. So when they arrived with Ben, I was instantly thinking he was Cams Twin. After editing and comparing side by side the newborn images for both (yes, I actually go that step), I couldn’t believe how similar they were. Like actual identical twins. You can view a few images from a very old blog post here.

My Aunt was over while I was putting the final edits on Ben’s images from his digital collection, and I was changing the birth announcement, and she too thought Cameron and Ben were the same baby. So, It’s not just me.

But, we all know baby’s change and grow so fast and I’m sure by now, being 6 weeks old, his parents can already spot so many differences in them. The one thing that remains the same as how much these two boys are so loved and wanted. Sealy family, I am so beyond happy for you. I cannot wait to see you again! xoxox

DURHAM REGION PHOTOGRAPHER | WELCOME ADELAIDE – After almost 9 years of being a Durham Region Newborn Photographer, I’ve heard many different baby names, repeatedly. But, can I just say I LOVE how the classic names are coming back? When I heard this sweet girl’s name I loved it. It reminds me of the beautiful Country of Australia. I still do love the quite popular names, my daughter’s name is Sophia after all. But it was nice to hear something not so common these days. My favourite girl names tend to be those that end in the “ah” sound, and for boys, it’s the “n” sound at the end. But you know, when I hear a good one outside of my “rule” it draws my attention.

This session was equally unique. Parents M+A, opted for an in-home session in their Durham Region Home. Close to the Toronto Boarder. Unfortunately, the scheduled day was rather dark outside, and natural light is my main source of light for in home lifestyle sessions. But, as dark as it was, we made it work, even if we had to use a room their didn’t plan on. Clients, I can shoot an entire session in a 10×10 room. No Joke. As long as you have a large enough window with light walls, I always make it work.

We were lucky that the sun came out for a short amount of time, so we ventured to the nursery (which by the way is gorgeous, nice job mama). And their living room so the session had some variety. Needless to say I enjoyed my cuddles with miss Adelaide and I cannot wait until next time I see her sweet face. Her parents are pretty great too ๐Ÿ˜‰

Durham Region Photographer | Welcome Baby Alyana – I think I’ve mentioned before that I will take a baby of any age to photograph. I don’t discriminate on the age, I think ANY age is a good age to photograph. So Parents, if you missed the “newborn” window, listen here: It’s A-OK! I know the newborn age (under 14 days) is/was considered “prime time”, but let’s face it. Some parents just don’t feel like being in front of the camera that soon after delivery. You’re tired, I so get it. So, parents, if you miss the newborn window, and still want images of your baby at 3 weeks, 8 weeks, 11 weeks, we got you. Whatever the age.

This truthful story absolutely has nothing to do with Alyana’s parents though ha! I just wanted to show parents that although she’s over the newborn stage, they are still new, still look like a tiny baby, and there’s nothing to regret! Alyana’s grandma actually found me much after she was born and she was kind enough to tell her son and his beautiful wife about my work. I am so thankful she did. Here is a sneak peek from her gallery. I am back from holidays and working on her digital image collection, beautiful heirloom album design and Canvas. All the goodies, folks. That’s how it’s done! <3 Stay tuned for the entire blog post when it’s all complete.

Durham Region Baby Photography | Welcome Cole – I don’t know about you but I get deja vu often, at the very least a few times per week. I’ve read that it’s because you’ve dreamed about it before. Often times, when I think of things, they happen too. I know I’m not the only one this happens to. It’s been that way for as long as I can remember. It used to kind of creep me out as a child. My husband,on the other hand, doesn’t ever remember his dreams, where as mine are sometimes so vivid.

When Kristian told me she was expecting baby # 2 I had the same feeling. For a brief second I thought “Yes we just talked about this”. I was overjoyed, for the second time that week. I remember our conversation so clearly. Of course I didn’t ask if she had told me that already but it was clearly deja vu. These two were just meant to be parents again, that’s all. Their unconditional love for their little boys is so evident, and each moment is cherished. Kristian’s sense of humour and mothering nature compliments Brian’s patience and hard working demeanor. Together, they make a great team, and those two little boys are so very lucky.

Charlie…

Big brother Charlie has been my friend since his very early days when he came to the studio for his newborn portraits. A few years have gone by and they have easily become one of my favourite family’s to work with, hands down. I was so excited (twice) to learn Charlie was going to become a big brother. I’ve lost count on how many sessions it’s been with this beautiful family, but I look forward to working with them the next time. Here are some images of them, taken in my new studio, that I keep subtly talking about on Instagram and Facebook. I should really take some photos of the new place. It’s pretty perfect. But for now, I will leave you with these until I return from the sunny south xx

p.s. Told you they were a beautiful family! Special thanks to Kris’ mom who came for the extra set of hands.

DURHAM REGION PHOTOGRAPHER | THE GOULET FAMILY

DURHAM REGION PHOTOGRAPHER | THE GOULET FAMILY – Ok, so I admit it. Posting on social media has taken a complete 180. Being a mom of 2, with kids in Acting, Competitive dance, Music lessons and sports, it’s hard to keep with with ALL the things in life on the to-do list. I’m sure every mom in my circle of friends and those reading this blog can agree. Even if their day to day activities differ from mine.People are generally busier nowadays. If you’re a new parent, you’re up in the night, awake in the day, and a teeny tiny person completely person depend son you 24/7. Parents of toddlers, lol… need I say more… they don’t really stop. And kids a bit older like mine (6,8), have activities, school work and trying to squeeze in some quality family time while running my business, something HAS to give. And so my fall by the wayside is Social Media posting.ย  I am choosing sleep (the 7 hours I get a day) over it.

I absolutely LOVE my job, and my clients. So in order to give them and my family the attention they need and deserve, this is the least important. Which is a bit sad, because I love sharing my work. It gives new potential clients a look at my work that I’m proud of. Perhaps I should hire a Social Media Intern?

Which brings me to why on earth I am so late on posting this Spectacular family in Winter when we shot in Fall. Meet the Goulet Family. I have been photographing them for years, and each time gets better and better. We met at one of my selected locations in Durham Region, and had so much fun making the kids laugh. This session was done in less than an hour and mama had a hard time choosing (now I know why she wanted a mini ๐Ÿ˜‚). They remind me of the family that comes in the photo frame. Much love to you guys and thanks for choosing me each year! xo

  • January 24, 2019 - 9:53 PM

Maxine - I feel you, social media can drain the little bit of time we have left in the day! Love these colours, what an amazing session, and great variety-especially for a mini!ReplyCancel
